What is One Good Reason?
On the one hand, its the latest music and news from me, Syd Sidney. I produce music, play the drums, write songs and record them.
On the other, what started in 1999 when I was basically telling my mom and a few friends about songs I was uploading to mp3.com has grown into something more - and it deserved a new home and a new name.
The song “One Good Reason” from my 2017 record Easy Magic best captures the feelings I have about why I did — why I do — any of this.
The core of it is in the bridge to the last chorus:
You’re gonna ask me how I make my way
If I’m ever gonna “make it”
You’re gonna ask me what my family’s saying?
Whether I’ve got one good reason
I’ve got one good reason….
My one good reason, really, is you. Connection.

People sometimes reply to these emails. Recently someone wrote and said, “I have no idea how I ended up on this mailing list and who all these people are that you talk about.” Which kind of put me on the defensive at first. But then - I’ve been collecting emails at shows and from various interactions in person and online for 25 years.
